Keep Manhattan and give me that countryside

Things have been really shaping up in Erwinna. Erwhatya? That's the reaction most people have when we say we live in Erwinna, even some of the locals haven't heard of the place. First we say it's close to Frenchtown, NJ. Then, we add that it's on the NJ/PA border, right on the river. Then we say it's 20 minutes north of New Hope. When we see a gimmer of light in their eyes, we sigh a breath of relief and move on.

The backyard is shaping up nicely. The back porch area now has places to sit and relax and/or eat. The vista is tranquil, and we hear some bullfrogs in the distance thriving in nature.

Shayne took all these shots. The one above is the kitchen, which is starting to work like a real one. The door in the back leads to the patio in the backyard from picture 1 and this one below:

Interior decorator Pillows Gonzales has been hard at work turning the country house into the country dream house. It's not finished by a mile, but there are some nice comfortable places to relax and watch TV and eat dinner with a Danish Modern flare.

Marcia and Gerri have graciously given us some stools, making the bar area a perfect place to slide a beer across.

Sanding and Swedish Design

Lee decided that instead of paying the many thousands it would cost to refinish and resand the floors--we would do it ourselves.

We rented the equipment and successfully sanded and stained the third floor. Check out the pics below.

The weekend was also important as we received our shipment of Swedish Modern furniture that we ordered. Unfortunately, i spent two days assembling the furniture until my fingers got raw.

Here are some other pics of the first floor--its still a work in progress.

Since we want to have people up as soon as possible, we decided to let professionals resand and refinish the second floor.

Also, it was pretty exhausting the whole sanding experience...

Finally here are some pics of our backyard.

And yours truly, the Grillmaster Extraordinaire.
